Döderskratt - A Dramatic Concert

This piece of dance and music; a mixture of jazz, rock and folk music from around the world, is a powerful piece of theatre, from Theatre Slava, that invites the outside in and reflects the ambience of the festival. The cast manipulate and control their audience from the onset, drawing you in and pushing you back as they wish, with an element of audience participation.

The cast switch to different identities during the show, and as a result, the piece ranges from being almost heavenly and saintly to, on the other hand, vicious and menacing. Their costumes suggest primitive, but at the same time are provocative as they dance forcefully and elegantly, daring you to engage. As a group they come together and gel, despite having solo parts.

This short and sharp show is a seamless production that oozes professionalism, musical flair and creativity. The church venue only adds to the atmosphere and produces excellent acoustics to their already piercing voices. The set is minimal, the props bold and innovative. They take to the stage with a confidence and assurance that makes you sit up and listen. From the bustle and chaos of the outside, this show transports you into another era, a welcome break.
