Drinking And Writing (volume 1) written by the cast Sean Benjamin, Steven Mosqueda, and Diana Slickman explores the connection between drinking and some of the greatest writers, such as, Hemingway, Dorothy Parker and F. Scott Fitzgerald. The performers read from the writers own books about what they have said about themselves and about issues around alcohol.
It is performed in a bar, an intimate setting, afterwards you almost feel like their friends! Ironically most of the audience is drinking along with the cast along with the topics. At times it feels like "Who's watching who, watching who" as even the bar man (an innocent worker with a severe hangover) got dragged in and along. There was an element of the 'Unexpected' as you never really knew what they were going to do next… sing? dance? quiz the audience?
I must add however that this was a slightly selfish show, 'Me myself and I' the cast very much had their own agenda and not always their audience in mind. They also don't actually play anybody but themselves - Is this acting? I get the impression that this style and subject might go down a treat in lets say...Reality TV?
