Little Lucy and Friends

Z Theatre Company, the Hull University theatre society who have been one of the fringe mainstays for many years, bringing fresh talent to the stage every year. This student production presents Little Lucy and Friends in a piece devised by the company. Little Lucy is the devil, who for the duration of this play has possessed the body of a doll.

All Little Lucy's friends and family debate how awful she actually is and, as they recollect her past behaviour, we are taken to the scenes of her crimes with comic results. Everything in the play is black and white quite literally; there are no grey areas in this production, with Little Lucy having not one iota of a redemptive soul in her. The characters take this into their costume and set design which all look visually stunning in its simplicity.

As the cast devised, designed and directed everything we get a strong sense of their wit and humour. The piece shows potential but unfortunately lacks visual structure, much needed by an external benefactor.
