There comes a point in a relationship when the question "Should I tell them my fantasies" may or may not enter your mind. But even if it hasn't, most people over twenty five years old can relate to the notion of 'The change' some would say 'the Itch', others, more politely 'real love'
Playing , written by Jodi Miller and directed by Lisa Cagnacci, is a snapshot of a young couple, Lorraine (Elizabeth Bower) and Richard (Nathon Taylor), who's relationship in the bedroom has become somewhat stale. In an attempt to spice things up they experiment in different types of 'Activities', entering a dangerous zone with unimaginable outcomes. Very quickly you feel you might be intruding, looking through the key hole into someone else's intimacies.
Playing initially gives you the impression that, at most you might get an insight into another couples habits, which makes you as the watcher slightly more comfortable with your own! Yet this play cuts harder and faster than this, as what emerges is a bold and brave attempt in showing what happens when the boundaries are crossed...
The actors carry this show with confidence and understanding. They slip comfortably in and out of different personas making it an interesting, and at times, shocking watch.
Lisa Cagnacci (Director) and Jodi Miller (Writer) have created a memorable and resonant play that was certainly worth seeing! |
