"First the underbelly, now the traverse, next . . . the castle!" So believes Chris John Jackson, motivational speaker and a wonderful piece of character comedy created by Perrier Award winning Will Adamsdale.
Although listed originally as a stand up act, this is a genre-defying piece of theatre and at times the character seems all to real with his American accent, hilarious catchphrases - "Achieve" and "Push through with Intensity"
Jackson's Way has none of the usual warm-up or getting-to-know-you stages as with other comic acts. Straight away Jackson (Adamsdale) is pulling members of the audience up on stage to throw towels on the floor. Apparently this is what made Jackson famous in the States! By the end of the show the audience were practically begging to be picked on and used in an array of bizarre games, including a game of move the rubbish, and going diving on the stage accompanied by a lovely sing-a-long audience. To get a full audience to participate in such a way shows the amazing charm that Adamsdale's creation has.
The character of Jackson is so believable that at times I forgot I was watching a comedic performance and thought I had stumbled into a real motivational talk. The secret to Jackson motivational speech, well it's pointless, quite literally, do something pointless because most things are, just make sure you Push Through with Intensity and Achieve .
