A triple bill of dance with Samudra, X Factor and Freshmess.
First are Samudra, a dance company from Kerala in Southern India with extracts from their work Sound of Silence. Two male dancers perform a piece which feels traditional and modern at the same time. Intriguing to watch and at times quite sensual, the dancers make movements which clearly take incredible strength look as effortless as lifting a finger.
Next up are X Factor with a fast paced physical portrayal of a couple going through a break up. The piece is all set round a table and chairs and lit so that the dancer’s shadows are thrown up against the backdrop.
And lastly Freshmess with Vinyl Lino a fun and lively piece based around a group of friends practising their Hip-Hop moves on their granny’s lino. A piece which will have you smiling and laughing as well as wishing you could pull off the same moves.
Overall this adds up to an hour of great entertainment, an ideal show to see if you want to see dance but don’t know what you want to see. Each of the three pieces has an entirely different style and pace and leaves you feeling breathless, excited and trying to sign up for classes on the way out.
